Born Marianne Lyons and growing up in Quincy, I was always interested in science and of course my father , a science teacher encouraged my experiments. i collected grasses and matched them with the pictures in my Book of Knowledge Encyclopedia. Now that was a great book, positively inspiring. I askled my dad once what I could do to be smart and he said read the encyclopedia and I did. Then I read the Bible. And guess what? Yes I became teachers pet, because I had read about so many things. those volumes contained poetry, art, history and every imaginable subject. Even lessons in French. I loved all the knowledge and wanted to learn more.
My Dad also loved music and I always had his piano music, growing up to put the soundtrack to my life. "Stardust" . And his singing. He and I would harmonize as we washed dishes. He was so sweet and never stayed angry with me but always talked to me and calmed me when I was upset. It's good to write your history. Next blog I'll try to remember my earliest thoughts.
